Oconto County Friends of Agriculture
Scholarship Application

Dear Oconto County Graduating High School Senior:
A priority of the Oconto County Friends of Agriculture is to give back to our community in recognition of the strong agriculture industry in the county and community support of the annual Breakfast on the Farm event.  To further that priority we offer scholarships for graduating high school seniors who are residents of Oconto County.   Six scholarships will be awarded, one each to a graduating senior from Gillett, Lena, Oconto, Oconto Falls, and Suring High Schools and one to an Oconto County resident graduating from Coleman, Pulaski, or Wabeno High School, or who is home schooled. Note that in the event a qualifying application is not received from one or more schools, the Committee may consider awarding scholarships to additional qualifying applicants up to a total of six scholarships. Subject to available funds, scholarships are $500.   
Award decisions are based solely on information provided on the application.  Therefore please be as specific and thorough as possible in completing the application.  For your information, the included rubric outlines the relative value of various parts of the application that will be considered by the selection committee. Your thoughts – combined with your writing skills and creativity – can put you in line to receive one of seven scholarships. Rural Mutual Insurance Company, Wisconsin Towns Association, and Scott Construction, Inc. are again offering the following scholarships to winners of an essay contest. Scholarships will be awarded on the following basis: 

Two (2) $1,000 scholarships will be awarded to the students with the highest-ranking essay score from a town or village insured by Rural Mutual Insurance Company as of May 1, 2024. Five (5) $1,000 scholarships will be awarded to the top five additional students with the highest ranking essay scores.
 

All applicants must graduate from a Wisconsin public or private high school in 2024 and plan to attend a Wisconsin public or private college or university in 2024. Essays will be judged independently on originality and subject matter in relation to the topic. The essays must also contain correct spelling, grammar, and punctuation. Judging will be completed by August 9, 2024. Recipients will be announced by August 23, 2024. Proof of enrollment in a Wisconsin public or private college is required to receive a scholarship. The WCA Group Health Trust (GHT) is once again proud to sponsor five scholarships in the amount of $2,000 each. 

To be eligible to receive a scholarship from GHT, the applicant must enroll as a full-time undergraduate student at a Wisconsin university or college, either public or private, in the fall 2024 term. The applicant must be working towards a career in health care services. The applicant or the applicants spouse, parent, grandparent or guardian must be a GHT member.
