PUBLIC SCHOOL OPEN ENROLLMENT (School Choice)

The public school open enrollment program allows parents to apply for their children to attend school districts other than the one in which they live.

Wisconsin residents in 5-year-old kindergarten to grade 12 may apply to participate in open enrollment.  Open enrollment for prekindergarten, 4-year-old kindergarten and early childhood is limited.  Parents should call their resident school district to find out if their preschool-aged children qualify.  The open enrollment application period for 2012-2013 school year is from February 6-24, 2012.  The application period closes at 4:00 pm on February 24, 2012.  Late application will not be accepted. 

Parents may apply in one of two ways:   On-line (recommended) at http://dpi.wi.gov/sms/psctoc.html    

Paper applications may be obtained from the Department of Public Instruction or any school district

and must be delivered (hand-delivery is recommended) to the nonresident school district.

Update on the Monitor Replacement Project

During the holiday break all the old tube type (CRT) monitors were replaced by modern, energy efficient 19" LCD flat panel displays.

287 monitors were removed from service and recycled. All the monitors were stacked on pallets, shrink wrapped, and shipped to a certified

recycling company. The entire project was paid for from a grant Mr. Kohl wrote and money from the Microsoft (CYPRES) settlement.

Gillett School District savings from this project will exceed $6800 per year from reduced electrical usage.
